Join us for the Winter is Coming Kick-off on Halloween Night, Saturday, October 31st, at Jean Cocteau Cinema.

Proceeds from Winter Is Coming will benefit the ‘Filmworkers Give Back Homeless Youth’ project and the SFPS Adelante Program for homeless families enrolled in the Santa Fe Public Schools. Winter is Coming is a hunger awareness campaign and donation drive to combat homelessness and hunger in Santa Fe. The Jean Cocteau will accept coats, hats, gloves, and scarves for all ages (infants to adults) and sizes.

We are also accepting warm and gently-used (or new!) sleeping bags during this event and throughout November and December. Additional food donation events and coat drop off will be announced. “Arrive with two coats, leave with one.” Filmmakers Give Back has focused on Santa Fe’s homeless youth who are in need of warm clothing and sleeping bags for the predicted cold and wet 2015-2016 winter. SFPS Adalante Program provides warm clothing, fresh and canned food and services to nearly 1,800 homeless—or nearly homeless—families a year for 13% of the public school children in Santa Fe.

The Kick-off for Winter Is Coming will include two events. From 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, there will be an Outdoor Family Halloween Fest, and from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM, there will be a costume-optional party with live music inside the Jean Cocteau.

The family outdoor festival opens at 4:00 PM in front of the Cocteau.Take your child trick-or-treating outside the Jean Cocteau where we will give away full sized candy bars. Play fun, family-friendly, Halloween games. Perfect your costume with make-up artists who will be on hand! Or, get professional photographs of your costume inserted into spooky Halloween style backgrounds. Donations of warm coats or sleeping bags can be left at the theatre.

Then, don’t forget to come to the Jean Cocteau’s Halloween Party from 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM. Have a blast at a costume-optional party with music by Felecia Ford and guitarist Josh Martin, and enjoy drink specials that will benefit both the SFPS Adalante Program and Filmmakers Give Back. There will be a suggested donation of $10 for this event. Please bring donations of warm coats or sleeping bags can also be left at the theatre during this event.

Thank you to George RR Martin, SFPS Adelante Program, Filmworkers Give Back, Rock Against Racism, Santa Fe Film Festival, IATSE 480, and the Young Democrats of Santa Fe County for your kindness and generosity.
