The Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe is excited for Zozobra to team up with the Santa Fe Fiesta Council during the Labor Day Weekend! On Friday night we will all gather in the park to celebrate (keeping our fingers crossed that the Old Man Gloom will not show up to ruin the fiesta). wink wink! The day after the burn the Fiesta Council is moving the mariachi concert to Ft. Marcy Park to bring the Fiestas back her people. This is a great thing to reunite our community with itself with great entertainment with lower ticket prices oh and did I mention…it’s outside in the park!!! Whoo Hooo!
I love when my group (Kiwanis Club/Zozobra) works together with the Santa Fe Fiesta Council to help keep our 300+ year old traditions ALIVE!!!
PLEASE HELP US SUPPORT THIS CONCERT SANTA FE!
NOTE FROM THE SANTA FE FIESTA COUNCIL:
The Santa Fe Fiesta Council is proud to bring the Mariachi Concert back to the people of Santa Fe. The Council has requested that 303rd annual Mariachi be presented on Saturday September 5, 2015 at Fort Marcy Ball Park. In Addition to making this an open air concert, the Fiesta Council is slashing the ticket price to make this amazing event to make it affordable to all Santa Feans that would like to attend.
David Ortiz, Santa Fe Fiesta Council President said, “An overwhelming majority of Santa Fean’s told us they want more access to our amazing events and they need it to be affordable to share with their families to continue our traditions. We at the Fiesta Council have listened. In addition to the venue being able to accommodate more people and families, the ticket price has been reduced to allow all Santa Feans to attend the Mariachi Concert.”
Although ninety percent of Fiesta events are free to the public, the Mariachi Concert is one of a handful of important fundraisers that allows the Council to fund Fiesta events throughout the year. Although local business provided some financial aid to the Council, the costs of maintaining this over 300 hundred year tradition, runs in the hundreds of thousands dollars and the Council is solely responsible to raise the revenue to keep Fiestas going.
In addition to bringing the Mariachi Concert back to the people, the Fiesta Council has received preliminary approval for the following Saturday, September 12 or “Fiesta Saturday” be extended to its historic midnightcurfew rather than its 10pm cutoff in recent years.
“The Fiesta Council and the people of Santa Fe’s bond has never been stronger but we need to work to ensure all people feel welcome and can afford our events, In that way it’s a win-win for all of us” said David Ortiz, President, SF Fiesta Council. Ortiz can be reached at 505-660-1720
