Que Viva la Fiesta! Que Viva los caballeros de Vargas! Que Viva Zozobra! I love this shot I found of the caballeros de Vargas with Zozobra in 1986! I remember this burning like it was yesterday. I was in 7th grade at Capshaw Jr. High and I had moved to Santa Fe full time and forced my parents to take me. My eldest nephew and niece were just small kids at the time and they freaked out. I remember falling in love with the entire idea of an effigy filled with peoples hate and anger and then burning it away much like they do to their saints in Spain. I was immediately hooked. I was gloomy the next year and then just attended through high school. I missed Zozobra and Fiestas very much and always talked about the event during Fiesta weekend the many years I lived out of Santa Fe. And now to be able to work so closely with Zozobra is a true honor. I hope that everyone loves the images I have been putting out to help promote the fundraiser I’m hosting for the entire city. Anyhow, this picture of Caballeros de Vargas with Zozobra brought back a lot of happy memories. Thanks again to mom and dad for doing all the crazy shit I’ve always wanted to do in my life. I couldn’t ask for better parents. I love you.
