Santa Fe Fiesta, Inc. seeks community members interested in portraying the role of General Don Diego de Vargas and La Reina de la Fiesta de Santa Fe™ for the 303rd Fiesta de Santa Fe™, which is scheduled for the week of Aug. 29- Sept 6, 2015.
The Fiesta Council will accept applications for the popular roles through 5 PM, Friday, April 13, 2015. American Indian women between the ages of 18-25 who are interested in representing their respective Pueblos are encouraged to apply for that role.

The 2015 Don Diego de Vargas and La Reina de la Fiesta de Santa Fe™ will be announced on Saturday, May 9, 2015 during the Baile de Mayo, which begins at 7:30 p.m., at the Santa Fe Community Convention Center. The Community is invited to attend.
Each spring the Santa Fe Fiesta, Inc. hosts a contest in which local men and women compete to secure the coveted roles. The contestants are required to deliver a speech in English and Spanish, and are quizzed on their knowledge of historical events surrounding fiesta, he said. The Contest Selection is at 7:30 pm, Thrusday, May 7, 2015, at The Santa Fe Community Convention Center, $5 per person.
Don Diego de Vargas candidates must be 21 years of age or older, the successful candidate will be afforded the opportunity to select up to sixteen individuals to serve on his Cuadrilla, said Romero. La Reina de la Fiesta de Santa Fe™ candidates must be 21-30 years of age. The successful candidate may select up to four Princesas to serve on her Royal Court.
All candidates are required to submit with their application a fingerprint based background check.
The Fiesta de Santa Fe™ commemorates General Don Diego de Vargas’ peaceful reentry into the City of Santa Fe on Sept. 14, 1692 following the Pueblo Revolt of 1680. In 1712, eight years after de Vargas’ death, a proclamation was signed by the Santa Fe City Council to establish an annual commemoration, which is considered the Country’s longest running community event in the continental United States.
The sponsorship fee for the 2015 applicants is $450 per contestant.
