Groundbreaking for the Santa Fe County Solar Energy Center will take place on May 7, 2015 at 2 p.m. The new solar energy center will add nearly 10 megawatts of solar capacity to PNM’s system. It is located south of the National Guard off of I-25’s east frontage road. PNM is investing $19 million in this project which will have more than 40,000 panels and will generate the equivalent of the energy used by about 4,000 average residential customers. The center will provide approximately $165,000 in taxes to Santa Fe County and short term construction jobs.
By the end of 2015, PNM will have invested $270 million on solar power in New Mexico and will have more than one million solar panels at 15 plants statewide providing clean energy for New Mexico.
