This morning, PNM employees left New Mexico to travel to California and assistPacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) with damage assessment, repairs, and power restoration as wildfires continue to devastate communities in the state.
Approximately nine PNM employees, including linemen, a mechanic, and support staff, will be providing assistance in the Sacramento and Davis, California areas.
The crew is a mix of employees from the Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Silver City, Ruidoso and Alamogordo areas.
Employees will work on patrolling lines and inspecting the affected areas, and the line crew will aid in repairing lines and poles that were damaged, and assist in power restoration to customers in the area.
“When fires or weather result in devastation like we are seeing in California, it’s common for utilities in those areas to request assistance from other utilities,” said Corey Plant, manager for the Metro and Northern New Mexico line departments. “We are all a community, and communities support each other and provide help. PNM is proud to be able to send employees to help those in need.”
The crew is prepared to stay in California for at least a week, but that timeframe may change if additional help is needed.
