Grammy Award winning Harlem Quartet and Cuban Pianist & Composer Aldo Lopez Gavilan!
A Showcase Benefit Concert and Reception to Support Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association.
Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association (SFYSA) ensembles will be joined by these internationally known artists to perform a musical showcase of jazz, mariachi and orchestra. The concert brings ensembles from all SFYSA performance programs to the stage and features the grammy award-winning Harlem Quartet with renowned Cuban pianist and composer Aldo Lopez Gavilan. The concert will be followed by a ticketed Sweet & Savory Jazz reception for the Artists and SFYSA supporters at the Santa Fe Oxygen & Healing Bar. All proceeds will benefit SFYSA’s programs.
The Harlem Quartet advances diversity in classical music while engaging new audiences with varied repertoire that includes works by minority composers. Their mission to share their passion with a wider audience has taken them around the world; from a 2009 performance at The White House for President Obama and First Lady, Michelle Obama, to a highly successful tour of South Africa in 2012, and numerous venues in between.
SFYSA is funded by grants and individual donations and provides nearly $20,000 annually in tuition assistance. Proceeds from this concert will help support tuition assistance for young musicians, provide coaching, instruction, instruments and equipment, and also help to bring guest artists to nurture SFYSA’s students. The concert will be followed by a ticketed Sweet & Savory Jazz reception for the Artists and SFYSA supporters at the Santa Fe Oxygen & Healing Bar. All proceeds will benefit SFYSA’s programs.
