Every set has them and every set needs them, but how do you get a job as a Production Assistant and what are the different types? We will cover all of this and hear how to break into the film world with a job as a PA.
May 30th: Foley Artist: The Fun and the Job with Lara Dale
How do those sounds get into your favorite movie? Foley Artists are some of the most creative people in the film business, making true to life sounds from everyday objects. Come see a demonstration of how this works and learn more about what a foley artist does.
June 27th: Entertainment Law Basics
This topic will cover what you need to know in the entertainment industry to cover yourself. What are the basic contracts you should have and when do you need to go to an attorney?
July 25th: Costumes, Makeup & Hair
We will have the department heads from some of our high profile New Mexico films talk about what it is like to work in the the Costume, Makeup and Hair departments on films and tv shows. They will share various ways of getting into these departments and what you can do to start working in New Mexico’s thriving film industry.
August 29th: What is this job and what do they do?
There is such a wide variety of jobs in the film industry, come learn who is who on set and what their job entails.
September 26th: Affordable and Safe Special Effects
Special effects are a mainstay in the film industry, come out to learn some tips on creating affordable and safe special effects for films.
October 24th: Screenwriting 101
This informative lecture will give you the basics of screenwriting. From what to do when you have a great idea to how to format your screenplay. This topic will also cover great resources for you including books, groups and classes.
November 21st: Camera, Grip, Electric, Sound
There are a wide variety of specialties in the film industry, hear from those who make their living below the line using their special skills.
