The 2016 season of Santa Fe Bandstand kicks off with the music of Lone Piñon, an acoustic trio from Santa Fe, New Mexico whose music celebrates the Southwest’s diverse cultural roots. Using violin, guitar, guitarrón, accordion, and harmony vocals in Spanish, English, and Nahuatl, the group has revived and updated the stringband style that once flourished in New Mexico, bringing a devoted and explosive musicianship to a repertoire that crosses borders and generational divides.
This is their first Bandstand appearance.
July 5th 6PM
this is not all, next we have one of New Mexico’s favorite bands, Nosotros rocking the plaza also.
Nosotros seamlessly combines Latin rhythms with elements of Rock, Salsa, Jazz and Cumbia creating an original sound that is unmistakably Nosotros. M.E. Schenck of Hyperactive Music Magazine may have interpreted their sound best by saying “Nosotros’ music is not to be explained, it is to be felt in the pit of our souls.”
Nominated for seven 2016 New Mexico Music Awards, including “Best Latin Release,” “Best World Release” and “Best Original Arrangement.”
