Second Street Brewery – Rufina teams up with Psychic Violence Records to present ‘Haunting the Southside,’ a metal day-fest featuring five incredible national acts: Worm Ouroboros, Young Hunter, Sutekh Hexen, Hissing and William Fowler Collins.
**Second Street Brewery will be brewing a special beer exclusively for this event just as dark and heavy as the line-up itself.**
Worm Ouroboros is Lorraine Rath (Amber Asylum, The Gault) on bass and vocals, Jessica Way (Barren Harvest, World Eater) on guitar and vocals, and Aesop Dekker (Ludicra/Agalloch/Hickey) on drums. We set out to create music which explores the lines between fragility and strength, darkness and light, harmony and discord. Drawing inspiration from many places, including metal, doom, folk, progressive, and dark ambient genres, Worm Ouroboros creates its own space; a creeping, dark landscape full of murky dreams and emotions.
Young Hunter is a heavy psych band from the Pacific Northwest with Southwest roots. Using male and female lead vocals, dual guitar harmonies, and large dynamic shifts, their songs deal with the relationships of humans to the earth, the rise and fall of civilizations, and the ephemeral power of an individual’s voice in the wake of these forces.
Since 2008 Sutekh Hexen have turned the paradigm of black metal completely on its ear…a rapture of tonal intricacies and sonic densities that erect, brick by brick, into a tapestry that is so rich with innovative layers of sound decon[recon]struction, that the end result is the musical equivalent of a Tolstoy novel transcribed in binary code. The results are fresh, unique, unparalleled compositions that, if anything, only cultivate further interest upon each listen.
Hissing is an extreme metal group based out of Seattle, WA. Founded in 2014 out of a mutual interest in exploring dissonant, deranged, and punishing sounds and inspired by death/black metal groups such as Portal and Blut Aus Nord, Hissing have released 2 EPs through Disorder Recordings and Southern Lord Records and have a split LP and a full-length record forthcoming in 2017 and beyond.
Originally from rural New England and now living in New Mexico, William Fowler Collins (b.1974) is a composer/musician/
Collins has released music on the SIGE, Type, Blackest Rainbow, Handmade Birds, Daymare, Digitalis and Root Strata record labels. Current projects include solo recording and live performance. Additionally, he has active collaborations with Aaron Bradford Turner (SUMAC, Mamiffer, Isis), James Jackson Toth (Wooden Wand), Jenks Miller (Horseback), and Raven Chacon (Postcommodity).
