This unique all-ages event will feature a diverse line-up of some of the most powerful, dynamic and talented female hip-hop artists in New Mexico. All of the artists featured bring positive and uplifting messages of hope, healing, and empowerment. P.Rose (Albuquerque) will bring her spiritually-charged rhymes, followed by Santa Fe’s own Esme Olivia, who will perform her unique brand of harmonic, electronic praise. Fiery rap duo Katrina Benally and Letsjusb (Albuquerque, NM) will be next to take the stage, followed by Boston native Asliani (currently of Santa Fe), whose music August March of the Alibi called “a revolutionary antidote to hip hop’s materialistic and misogynistic failures” (November 13, 2014). DJ 22 (Kansas City, MO/Albuquerque) will provide a fresh mix of hip hop, house and world music to start out the evening and between sets.
The night will conclude with an all-gender community cypher facilitated by Asliani and special guests and with Santa Fe’s DJ Ride spinning from his vast collection of hip hop instrumentals. This will be a special opportunity to everyone to express him/her/themselves to a funky beat. The hope is that many in attendance will feel inspired to experiment with the art of freestyle and to experience its liberating and empowering effects.
Admission is $10 in advance and $13 at the door. Free admission for ages 21 and under. Tickets are available atbrownpapertickets.com. For more information, contact Asliani at (617)955-7209 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
