Dr. Lance Chilton is a pediatrician and long-time advocate for children’s immunizations. He has served on the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practices, and writes a weekly pediatrics column for the Albuquerque Journal.
It is important to bring the resources of academic medicine to address local community health needs by providing education to health professionals regarding the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine to strengthen HPV vaccination recommendations, resulting in a decrease in missed opportunities to vaccinate adolescents.
Objectives and Outcomes:
(1) Define the importance of HPV vaccination for cancer prevention
(2) Explain the rationale for vaccinating
(3) Provide useful and compelling information about HPV vaccine to parents
