On Saturday, March 24th from 9 AM till 12 Noon The San Juan Apiaries will be sponsoring a lecture and discussion on how to be a bee a beekeeper with honeybee management at the Natural Grocer’s conference room, 3328 Cerrillos Rd. in Santa Fe .
Every year I get numerous calls from beekeepers regarding how best to manage their bees. Quite often I am left with the feeling that I should share more about how I manage my bees, raise nucleus colonies, produce a honey crop, over-winter and manage for mites. As a former commercial beekeeper, I have learned a great deal, and each year the bees still manage to teach me something new. Attached is an event flyer with a general list of topics for discussion. Plenty of time will be allocated for questions. I will bring some equipment to demonstrate how I establish and manage my nucleus colonies (so you don’t have to keep buying package bees every year!). I have been wanting to sponsor a bee seminar for quite some time, and this year I decided just to do it.
The event is open to anyone who keeps bees (or those with an interest to do so). Experienced and novice beekeepers are welcome. I manage my colonies in standard Langstroth style equipment, and that will be the focus. Kindly RSVP via email or phone so that I have an idea how many might attend, to set-up the room. The fee is only $25.00 payable at the event.
Feel free to email or call with any questions.
