Santa Fe Botanical Garden kicks off 2018 with a new series titled Food for Thought. This series explores our relationship with the natural world and how plants can impact our tastes, our thoughts, and our stewardship of the world. Each event in the series combines a vibrant presentation and discussion alongside delectable food.
As the first of the Food for Thought series, Santa Fe Botanical Garden celebrates Valentine’s Day with the sensuous pairing of chocolate and wine at our Love is in the Air event on February 11 at the Niman Gallery (125 Lincoln Ave, Santa Fe, NM).
Led by Master Chocolatier, Melanie Boudar, from Cacao Santa Fe you will learn about the cacao tree – where it’s grown, the challenges farmers face growing cacao, and how it’s harvested. The post-harvest practices such as fermentation and drying of the beans, and finally the critical roasting step, are responsible for chocolate’s unique taste and texture.
During the last part of the afternoon we will enjoy a guided tasting of five unique chocolates from different origins along with five wines specifically chosen by David Enright, wine aficionado from the Arroyo Vino Wine Shop.
Each pairing will be introduced by the chocolate and wine experts to illuminate what characteristics make the perfect pairing.
Tickets are $65 for members, and $75 for non-members. Click Here
