Join us for our September Art Gallery Opening Reception. This month we are pleased to be featuring the artwork of Jesse Wood!
The artist will be on hand to talk about their work and process, light snacks will be served and, as always, our bar will be open.
▶︎ About the Artist ◀︎
“I am an artist living in NM for the last two decades where I have been painting and pursuing a career as a collaborative printmaker. I attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and later Savannah College of Art and Design. After returning to New Mexico, I was reintroduced to printmaking at IAIA under the direction of Neal Ambrose-Smith.
I applied to Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque and was accepted with seven other students. I am currently enrolled in the Printer Training Program there, graduating in May of 2019.”
“I am a painter and a lithographer, focusing my attention for the past 20 years towards landscape and still life canvases. I began printmaking as a teenager and remained self-taught until attending art school as an adult.
Since then I have followed lithography with serious attention and learned a great deal about the techniques required for this laborious and collaborative process.
My painting has taken a backseat since I began studying at Tamarind Institute in Albuquerque, where the focus is solely on helping artists understand the language of printmaking.
Never the less, I have managed to produce some lithographs and prints which I may say are my own fledgling attempts at expression.
A large part of my print portfolio addresses issues that I have faced before and after becoming a father, specifically around my relationship to my young son and the prospect of being a single parent.”
This exhibit will feature a collection of original lithography prints. The show will remain up for the month of September; we feature a different art show monthly, with an opening reception on the first Thursday of the month!
