“Ignite” is a new community-focused, artist-driven public art program designed to support innovative, permanent public art installations on City-owned property throughout the community. Contract amounts up to $10,000 are available.
Ignite is an exciting new community-focused, artist-driven public art program designed to support innovative, permanent public art installations on City-owned property throughout the community. Through contracts for services up to $10,000 each, the City will acquire small-scale art projects that make our City a better place for all. Projects that include partnership and collaboration with multiple artists, organizations, businesses and neighborhood groups are encouraged. Ignite funding should support one or more of the Commission’s policy planks by activating a public space through creativity and the arts; facilitating participation in the arts by everyone in the community; and/or providing mentorship, internship or apprenticeship opportunities in the arts, including through in-school or after school arts programs.
Proposals are being accepted through Monday, February 29, 2016. All projects must be completed by June 30, 2016. Funds may be used to pay for artist fees, materials and supplies and the cost of installation that result in an artwork with an expected life of 10 years. The City may award multiple contracts.
