Instructors: Golda Blaise and Maggie Thornton
Integrating tech elements into a piece of art can be intimidating – no longer! This five-day workshop, led by Meow Wolf artists Golda Blaise and Maggie Thornton, walks students through the creative process of sculpting with light and moldable plastic, creating your own glow sculptures.
Golda Blaise is an accomplished visual artist, and original member of Meow Wolf. She has completed two solo installations and over 25 large scale installations with Meow Wolf since 2009. Her skill set includes glass blowing, glass casting through the lost wax process, six-years experience with thermoplastics, and over 15 years experience in jewelry making and craft. She has lead multiple workshops in New Orleans, LA, and at The Santa Fe Children’s Museum.
Maggie Thornton joined the Meow Wolf team in 2015, after studying philosophy and mathematics at St. John’s College. She helped fabricate and design the lighting layer in The House of Eternal Return and is excited to bring her technical knowledge to the Chimera classroom.
Cost: $170 plus $50 materials fee to build your own glow sculpture.
