This exhibition presents a hauntingly beautiful series of unique chemical paintings on gelatin silver photographic paper. Drawing on memories of his childhood in rural Germany during the 1960s and 70s, Busse blends darkroom chemicals, dyes, colored pencil, and drawing into evocative compositions where human figures, animals, and mythic imagery converge. His imagery recalls ancient petroglyphs while balancing themes of apprehension and joy, memory and myth.
Busse’s practice transforms photography into a vessel of emotional transparency, weaving together family narrative and archetypal storytelling. The Forest Has 1,000 Eyes invites viewers to step into a world both deeply personal and universally resonant.
