The New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe is delighted to host visiting artist Julie Chen as our distinguished speaker on contemporary letterpress and handmade books for the inaugural Palace Press Presents: Visiting Artist Lecture Series on Sat., Oct. 25, 1 - 2:30 p.m.

In her presentation, "The Art and Practice of Wonder," she will talk about her career as an internationally known book artist who has been publishing limited edition artists’ books under the Flying Fish Press imprint for more than 36 years. Julie’s work has been featured in numerous group exhibitions including the University of Washington, the Kohler Art Library at the University of Wisconsin, the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington, DC, and the Jack Ginsberg Centre for Book Arts, Wits Museum, Johannesburg. Her work can be found in numerous collections worldwide including the Library of Congress, Washington, DC, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. In 2009 she was a featured artist in the PBS television series, “Craft in America” and in 2020 she was one of the featured artists in the documentary film, “The Book Makers.”
