STUFF OLD MAN GLOOM. BURN HIM SEPTEMBER 4.
Join the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe for one of the most beloved traditions of the Zozobra season — the annual PUBLIC STUFF DAY & PIZZA PARTY!This is your chance to be part of 102 years of Santa Fe history. Bring your “glooms” — the papers, photos, letters, and mementos that represent the worries, disappointments, and bad memories you want to leave behind — and help us stuff them inside Old Man Gloom himself. When Zozobra burns on September 4 at Fort Marcy Park, all of those glooms go up in flames with him.No RSVP required for Stuff Day — just show up ready to help and bring your glooms. WHAT TO EXPECT:
• Stuff your personal glooms into Old Man Gloom
• Help the Kiwanis Club load him up for the big burn
• Enjoy a FREE pizza party with fellow volunteers
• Meet the Zozobra crew and fellow Santa Feans
• Make a memory your kids will talk about for years WHAT TO BRING:
• Your glooms — divorce papers, old bills, bad report cards, parking tickets, photos of your ex, anything you want to burn
• Comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little dusty
• Your family, friends, and neighbors — all ages welcome!WHAT TO WEAR:
Stuff Day is hands-on, dusty work, so please dress accordingly. Closed-toe shoes are required — no sandals, flip-flops, or open-toe footwear. We also recommend long pants and long-sleeve shirts to protect against dust, debris, and the rough materials we’ll be working with. Don’t worry about safety gear: dust masks and safety goggles will be provided on site. Come ready to work, ready to eat pizza, and ready to help send Old Man Gloom off in style! PIZZA IS ON US for every volunteer who shows up to help. ABOUT ZOZOBRA:
The Burning of Zozobra is a Santa Fe tradition dating back to 1924, when artist Will Shuster created the first Old Man Gloom as a way for the community to symbolically burn away its troubles. The 102nd Burning takes place Saturday, September 4, 2026, at Fort Marcy Park, with an expected crowd of 50,000+. This year’s event features a patriotic “King George III” theme tied to America’s 250th anniversary. The Burning of Zozobra is produced by the all-volunteer Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe. Proceeds fund scholarships, youth programs, and community service initiatives across Santa Fe. Tickets for the 102nd Burning are on sale now at burnzozobra.comSee you there, Santa Fe!
