New Kitten Foster Class

  • Santa Fe Cat Cafe 1221 Flagman Way Santa Fe, NM, 87505 United States (map)

Tiny kittens need big hearts — and Española Humane is inviting the community to learn how to save some of the most vulnerable lives this kitten season through its new “Milk Drunk Academy: Bottle Babies 101.”
The hands-on class will take place from 1–2 p.m. on May 24 at the Santa Fe Cat Cafe and will introduce participants to the basics of caring for neonatal kittens, including bottle feeding, warming, weighing, stimulation, troubleshooting, and the sometimes chaotic — but rewarding — world of fostering bottle babies.
Participation is limited to 10 people, and attendees will become part of an exclusive foster support cohort where they can ask questions, troubleshoot challenges, cheer each other on, and, of course, share plenty of milk-drunk kitten moments.
“Bottle baby kittens require around-the-clock care, but they’re also some of the most rewarding animals to foster,” said Kate Baldwin, the shelter’s executive director. “This class is designed to give people the confidence and support they need to help save tiny lives during kitten season.”
The cost is $10 and includes one drink from the café. Children ages 14 and older may attend with a parent or guardian. Participants agree to foster at least one litter of neonatal kittens following the training.
Kitten season typically brings an overwhelming number of vulnerable newborn kittens into shelters, many too young to survive without foster care and specialized attention.
