De'Anza

  • Mine Shaft Tavern 2846 New Mexico 14 Madrid, NM, 87010 United States (map)

A captivating show blending Mexico’s rich musical tapestry with the healing energy of Pachamama (Mother Nature). This distinctive musical journey fuses traditional folklore and ancestral beats with a modern twist, offering a culturally rich and sonically diverse experience.

De’Anza, a Mexican-American singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist from Santa Fe, New Mexico, has been called “a force of nature behind the microphone” by LA Weekly. Through her songwriting and self-produced albums, she amplifies the voice of women in a field where they have long been underrepresented.

In 2020, De’Anza made a bold transition—selling nearly all her possessions and leaving behind the bustling Los Angeles music scene to embrace a nomadic, gypsy life in Mexico. She adopted a bedroom-producer approach to music creation, often capturing the ambient sounds of her surroundings with a pocket field recorder—freezing moments in time through sound.

The result is a live show that weaves together the shamanic voices of the Mayan jungle, the rhythm of bustling mercados in Mexico City, an accordion melody from a street performer in Oaxaca Centro, and the nighttime symphony of crickets under a Santa Fe full moon.
