SANTA FE CUMBIERO: FRONTERA BUGALÚ, RADIO MALILLA, AND LUZ SKYLARKER
Ven a bailar, it's a cumbia dance party at SWAN Park! Frontera Bugalú epitomizes the homogeneity of sounds and very real experiences and struggles of daily life living along both sides of the worlds largest binational borderplex of the Texas/Mexico border. They’re influenced by the “rebajada” “Sonidero” and “sonora” cumbia styles that spread across Mexico in mercados and street parties, and the conjunto and “Tex-Mex” styling of Fito Olivares and Selena.
Frontera Bugalú is joined by cumbia ensemble Radio Malilla from Ciudad Juárez/El Paso, whose sound draws inspiration from the La Laguna tradition of Los Capi, the raw energy of Cartel de Santa, and the transgressive spirit of Celso Piña. And Santa Fe DJ Luz Skylarker rounds out the bill with her mix of cumbia, darkwave, reggaeton, and the sonic spaces in between.
We are endlessly grateful to all our sponsors who make these events possible!
THANKS TO THEIR SUPPORT, WE'RE HOSTING 50+ FREE EVENTS THIS SUMMER.
