The Zozobra Lip Sync Competition wants to know if you and your friends TikTok to the most iconic tunes of the 1990s? Do you like channeling N’Sync, Nirvana or the Spice Girls?
If the answer is YES, then Kiwanis wants YOU!
This year, the Zozobra Decades Project leads Zozobra into the1990s era when boy bands and grunge rockers ruled the radio waves with a Zozobra Lip Sync Competition added to our lineup of entertainment the night of the burn.
To mark the memorable music and moves of the Clueless decade, Kiwanis is seeking groups ready, willing and able to lip-sync for an audience that’s pumped to hear the tunes and see you show off your fly 90s style.
There’s no “As If” about this opportunity! You and your friends will literally be on the pageant stage to lip-sync to the 90s songs of that decade’s most well-known and beloved bands.
You’ll be rocking out with a Pearl Jam tune or living out your Foo Fighter fantasy before a live in-person audience of tens of thousands dancing along with you and hundreds of thousands more watching on TV and online around the world!
You don’t need to be a singer. We’ll provide the set list and all you have to do is share your love of 90s music, show your desire to lip-sync live on stage, and make a commitment to attend the following rehearsals and the main event, the 98th Burning of Zozobra on Friday, September 2, 2022!
    Mandatory rehearsal dates:
    • Sat., Aug. 20, 2022, 11 am – 2 pm
    • Sat., Aug. 27, 2022 11 am – 2 pm
    • Wed., Aug. 31, 2022, 8 -10 pm
    • Fri., Sep. 2, 2002, The 98th Burning of Zozobra, 6 pm until the event concludes

This year will be the 98th presentation of The Burning of Will Shuster’s Zozobra Santa Fe’s unique cultural celebration. Members of The Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe volunteer thousands of hours every year in preparation to make Zozobra a fun, family-friendly event but we always need help. Despite the pandemic necessitating a limited audience and affecting ticket sales, the net proceeds of Zozobra 2021 allowed Kiwanis to donate $25,000 to non-profits that aid Santa Fe’s underserved youth. Zozobra has also helped save 4,000 lives through Project ELIMINATE, the Kiwanis global campaign that partners with UNICEF to eliminate maternal/ neonatal tetanus (MNT) from the earth.
