DADCON 2018 is the 34th annual fall conference of NMMW, a life-changing retreat where men of all walks support one another on the path to becoming stronger, healthier, and happier. Our mission is to foster increased awareness & healthy relationships with ourselves, our families & our communities. We are open to all ages & cultures.
A little bit more about Dadcon and the New Mexico Men’s Wellness:
– The Winter gathering is a cross-country skiing and snowshoeing weekend in February at a cabin on the edge of the wilderness near Pagosa.
– The Spring gathering is at Hummingbird music camp in the Jemez valley in April.
– The Summer gathering is a tent and trailer campout at Jack’s Creek in the Pecos wilderness in August.
– The Fall conference is at Ghost Ranch in October.
Winter, Spring, and Summer gatherings attract 10 to 30 Men. Winter is the least structured. Spring, and Summer have a leader (or co-leaders) who select a theme, organize the weekend, and help facilitate group activities in such a way to help create safety and depth.
The Fall conference is a day longer than the other gatherings (starting Thursday evening), and it is the largest event, with 60 to 100 Men attending.
All of these seasonal weekend gatherings create great sharing and connection. We share good food, walk and talk, laugh (and sometimes cry), spend time in nature. It’s a joy to spend time with the good Men who attend.
A Father/Daughter weekend at Ghost Ranch in June is a relatively new development that has quickly become a popular Men’s Wellness event as well. Those who attend are unanimous in their praise.
Any of these gatherings is a good introduction to Men’s Wellness.
Another good introduction to Men’s Wellness is through the small Men’s groups. If you are interested in learning more about our affiliated Men’s Support Groups and possibly joining such a group, please check out http://www.nmmw.net/mens-groups/ .
