The City of Faith is certain to hear echoes of mercy and whispers of love as the City of Angels descends upon the 7th annual Sex on Vinyl Valentine’s Show at the Rouge Cat. This year, a thrilling cast soars into Santa Fe for this unique ritual that features talented DJs mixing as couples. The Sex on Vinyl style of mixing music was created in New Mexico 16 years ago by a handful of innocent DJs who once thought, “Let’s try this!”

Melanie Moore and Donovan have performed and produced events together since 1995. The Sex on Vinyl series (SOV) is their flagship production and features high design with world class DJs, all of whom are required to mix in pairs on no less than four turntables.

SOV’s signature winter forest returns a romantic and ethereal atmosphere to the Rouge Cat with hundreds of decorative birds perched on branches above the dance floor. This design aesthetic was inspired by a vintage New Mexican Valentine which depicted two ravens sitting together on a branch. This year’s winter forest will be enhanced by a visual connection between the two levels of the venue with a live VJ set by Joe Abraham Dean of Lumenscapes. With signature Rouge Cat cocktails Sex on Vinyl 7 celebrates love and affection in a modern, musical world.

From the City of Angels, DJs Sammy Bliss and Jesse Wright of Pocket Underground and Lightning in a Bottle’s Woogie Stage make their Sex on Vinyl debut. Sammy was introduced to Jesse Wright through a mutual friend in 2002 and together they formed Pocket Underground and threw parties in a warehouse right in the center of Hollywood. Shortly thereafter Sammy took a credit card to Guitar Center and made sweet love to his first pair of Technic 1200′s. Sammy’s tech house sound keeps the crowd riding his wave while Jesse makes them think about it in more cerebral ways. Both he and Jesse love connecting to each and every person on the dance floor.

DJs representing the City of Faith include Oona Bender, the Reverend Mitton, 13 Pieces and Jon Ray as well as Sex on Vinyl creators Melanie Moore and Donovan Livingston.
