The Underground, which is located beneath Evangelo‘s, is the latest hot spot in Town! A former jail house (pre 1890) that once held the notorious and most important New Mexican outlaw with his short, bloody career, the infamous, Henry McCarty, alias Henry, Billy and Kid Antrim, alias Billy Bonney, and named in the last months of his life by sensation-seeking journalists, “Billy the Kid.”
Hosted by Santa Fe’s hottest bachelor, Chris Quintana, “Q” or my new nickname for him, “Qucifer”. The Underground is a unique room of mayhem that is the kick in the ass the city needed and received! This cross between a dive bar, punk rock room and home to all things “underground” on the Santa Fe scene. EVERYONES welcome into this amazing piece of Santa Fe and American History. The Underground brings you the cities hottest DJ’s spinning your favorite in Dance, House, Hip-Hop, Reggae, and Rock. The local and national traveling Rock Music scene is still alive and a real treat for the local Santa Fe scene that has a deep rooted passion for all things that Rock!
The Underground, like Evangelo’s upstairs, continues to pay homage to their forefathers who were once owners of this very bar and the original Plaza restaurant before them. Enjoy the nostalgia in both locations. Downstairs the VIP table is easily recognizable with the old beer labeled, original menu for the Plaza Restaurant laminated top!
