Art of Santa Fe

The Santa Fe ART Scene is one unlike any other – Santa Fe is one of the most dynamic and exciting cities when it comes to Native American Art, Hispanic, multi-cultural and southwestern style art.

The International Art Scene Santa Fe draws, which is many people’s favorite, really shows what Santa Fe truly is: INTERNATIONAL – and although world renowned for its geographically-influenced pieces, some of the best contemporary art in the world is sold here, most pieces in a five mile radius of one  another.  The Santa Fe ART Scene is a strict competition for New York and San Francisco, some research has Santa Fe topping both cities in art sold, art galleries per square miles and artists per capita.

The variety and quality of the museums and art galleries in Santa Fe is simply splendiferous – ranging from the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, to historic artifacts at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture and the Museum of Spanish Colonial Art.

The state-managed Museum of International Folk Art is one to look out for in Santa Fe and was established as long ago as 1953. Over the years, this renowned institution has grown greatly and is today home to around 150,000 artifacts of varying importance, being spread around the Bartlett Wing, the Griard Wing, the Hispanic Heritage Wing and the Neutrogena Collection.

And, of course, there is our beloved and jam-packed Canyon Road – a staple in the art community – a Quixote-esque path that tempts its passersby’s like static sirens, beckoning each and every one of them to come look. It’s truly definitive of Santa Fe. Go visit NuArt, this writer’s personal favorite and when you’re exhausted from the artistic osmosis, stop at any of the nationally renowned restaurants including Chef Eric Di Stefano’s Geronimo, James Beard’s Award Winning Mark Kiffin’s  The Compound and the always excellent El Farol.

No matter what part of the earth you call home, great art speaks for itself and you can find all of it in Santa Fe.
