Santa Fe Farmer’s Market

The market has come a long way since I was a kid on the empty lot of what is now Site Santa Fe.  This modern farmers market is more then just a place to get fresh organic locally grown vegetables, fruits, beans and all the other amazing wonders our earth feeds us with. There’s dining at the Farmer’s Market Cafe before you start your shopping is ALWAYS a great way to start a Saturday morning or host your next meeting at the Santa Fe Farmer’s Market!

The market that began with a handful of farmers in the late 1960s is now by far New Mexico’s largest farmers’ market and one of the most widely recognized markets in the United States and beyond. The Santa Fe Farmers Market represents over 150 active vendors and features hundreds of different agricultural products. To further meet Santa Fe’s demand for fresh, local produce, the Market began operating year-round in 2002, and with more and more farmers using extended growing techniques, the “off season” becomes more successful every year.

Unlike most farmers’ markets in the US, the Santa Fe Farmers Market assures that all products sold by its vendors are always locally grown by the people selling them. 100% of the vegetables, fruits, and nursery plants available at Santa Fe Farmers Markets are grown right here in northern New Mexico. The same goes for at least 80% of the ingredients and materials used to make all processed and craft items.

Furthermore, no reselling is permitted. That means that the people doing the growing and producing are the same smiling folks who sell those products to you at Market. Got a question about how your food is grown? You’re at the right place, because at the Santa Fe Farmers Market, the salesperson is also the farmer! The Santa Fe Farmers Market is proud of its high standards, and you should be too, because when you shop at Santa Fe Farmers Markets, you are making the educated and healthy choice both for yourself and for our northern New Mexico community.
