Ever wish life was like a movie and you were Indiana Jones and could back in time to a place when there were no cars, houses or buildings not even guns and find ancient artifacts? Well now you can be Indiana Jones and make your own movie and go back in time at Bandelier National Park. A place which transports you back to Ancestral Pueblo archeological sites and hosting an amazing wild, organic, memorable and beautiful landscapes while continuing to connect the modern Pueblo people to their past in a monument covering 33,000+ acres and over 70 miles of trail.
View the “natural” homes, caves, mesas and pathways of the Pueblo people who lived in the area for over 10,000 years.
Do you like wildlife? If so, you’re in luck, Bandelier is full of it. Keep your eyes open for deer, elk, wild turkeys, vultures, ravens, a variety of species of Birds of Prey, a number of hummingbirds and let’s not forget about Abert’s squirrels, black bears and mountain lions, rattlesnakes, tarantulas and a variety of lizards and the horned toads who inhabit the monument but are rarely encountered.
About 70% of Bandelier National Monument is a designated Wilderness area.
Hikers can enjoy viewing remote archeological sites and spotting rare wildlife in this less developed area of the park.
*On a personal note, I highly recommend that any of you locals or visiting tourist to please visit Bandelier this is will make your visit to New Mexico that much more memorable. There is so much to learn how the Natives lived, worked, supported, played and sustained the tribe for thousands of years. The best part of Bandelier is that you can touch pretty much everything! Treat yourself to an experience unlike another!
